February 2020:  Growing Gears donates materials to the 2020 NACD Annual Meeting Service Project

In February 2020, the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) chose the Zion Choice Neighborhood Community Garden Park as the location for their 2020 Annual Meeting Service Project. Over 40 volunteers from across the nation helped clean out garden beds, removed weeds, and prepared the ground where they helped to install a 5' wide pathway to provide wheelchair access to the garden's 24 specially-designed ADA planting beds. Growing Gears donated 500 additional pavers and other materials to the project.

October 2019:  Growing Gears demostrates virtual and augmented reality at Henderson Libraries' Future Fair

In October 2019, Henderson Libraries hosted a Future Fair as part of numerous events celebrating their 75th anniversary. The Future Fair featured a variety of technologies to include 3D printing, hydroponics, robotics, and virtual reality. Growing Gears demonstrated hands-on virtual and augmented reality at the fair, giving visitors the opportunity to draw freestyle in a virtual environment as well as interact with NASA spacecraft and rovers through augmented reality.

June 2019:  Growing Gears showcases hydroponics, 3D printing, and more at Camp Lee Canyon at Mt. Charleston

In June 2019, Growing Gears brought high-tech equipment up to the mountains at Clark County's OMNI Science Camp. Participants had hands-on opportunities to interact with a variety of technologies to include robotics, hydroponics, augmented and virtual reality, solar energy, microscopes, and 3D printing. At the conclusion of the week-long camp, participants received 3D-printed prizes and certificates of achievement with 3D-printed gears.

May 2019:  Growing Gears' interactive exhibit features virtual reality, hydroponics, 3D printing, renewable energy, and robotics at the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival

In May 2019, Growing Gears hosted an exciting, interactive booth at the annual Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival featuring virtual and augmented reality, a variety of hydroponic and aquaponic technologies, solar and wind power, a 3D printing center with hundreds of printed parts, and an interactive robotics arena. The event drew over 14,000 attendees to see STEM on display.

January 2019:  Growing Gears collaborates with 100Banch Street for aquaponics and indoor agriculture research and development

Growing Gears and 100Banch Street work together to collaborate with the Q Room Grow Sphere to demonstrate and teach about sustainable agricultural technologies. Started in the 100Banch Experimental District in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, this unit is a social art and technology display designed to bring people together, inspiring creativity while teaching about advanced hydroponic and aquaponic technologies. The unit was displayed at Panasonic's 100-year anniversary.

May 2018:  Growing Gears donates indoor hydroponic GrowBox to Nevada State College

In May 2018, Growing Gears donated an OPCOM Farm GrowBox to the Physical and Life Sciences Department at Nevada State College to support their interest in urban agriculture. In particular, the department is interested in using hydroponics as a method of increasing water use efficiency. The college has an on-site garden that supplies food to their campus cafe and has established an aeroponic vegetable farm at a local wastewater treatment plant through a NASA Space Grant to focus on indoor agriculture.

May 2018:  Growing Gears displays hydroponics and 3D printing at the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival

In May 2018, Growing Gears partnered with the Youth Horticulture Education Program at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension to display and demonstrate hydroponics and 3D printing at the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival held at the World Market Center. Attendees also learned about solar energy and its importance for indoor agriculture. The event was designed to engage participants through interactive technology exhibits.

May 2018:  Amber Bosket appointed to the Governor's Council on Food Security

Growing Gears CEO, Amber Bosket, was appointed to the Governor's Council on Food Security. In 2014, Governor Brian Sandoval issued an Executive Order establishing the Council to implement the goals of "Food Security in Nevada: Nevada's Plan for Action" and to effectively improve the quality of life and health of Nevadans by increasing food security throughout the State.

April 2018:  Growing Gears displays science and technology for future jobs at school Career Fairs in the Las Vegas Valley

Growing Gears demonstrated 3D printing and hydroponic technologies this spring at numerous CCSD Career Fairs in the valley to support science and technology education and the jobs of the future. Pictured is Growing Gears Chief of Operations, Corrie Bosket, displaying a large, 14-hour 3D print highlighting the mathematical structure of crystals.

January 2018:  Amber Bosket writes "Advanced Hydroponics for STEM Education" on display by OPCOM Farm at CES 2018 in Las Vegas

Growing Gears CEO, Amber Bosket, writes "Advanced Hydroponics for STEM Education" for OPCOM Farm. The interactive book was featured at CES in Las Vegas at the OPCOM Farm Hydroponic Technologies exhibit in January. The book is interactive STEM learning content for the classroom and is designed to work with OPCOM Farm hydroponic technologies.

December 2017:  Growing Gears gives presentation to robotics teams from Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas

In December 2017, Growing Gears was invited to give professional feedback to robotics teams from Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas on the topic of solar-powered irrigation. In addition, Growing Gears displayed three technology stations demonstrating industries prioritized in the "New Nevada" economic development plan. The stations displayed indoor hydroponic technologies, 3D printing and advanced manufacturing, and interactive robotics.

August 2017:  Amber Bosket gives STEM, CTE, and Workforce Development presentation at the 2017 Southern Nevada Urban Agriculture and Food Sustainability Forum

In August 2017, Growing Gears CEO, Amber Bosket, gave the STEM, CTE, and Workforce Development presentation at the 2017 Southern Nevada Urban Agriculture and Food Sustainability Forum. The presentation highlighted education programs developed by Growing Gears that integrate urban agriculture and hydroponics into the classroom. She also moderated a panel discussion on the topic.

June 2017:  Columbian delegation visits Growing Gears to learn more about STEM development

In June 2017, a group of delegates from Columbia visited the Growing Gears team to learn more about their workforce development programs. Growing Gears showcased some of the award-winning programs they have developed including their Green Building Design Program and 3D Printing initiative. On display were dozens of 3D prints each demonstrating different materials and techniques used in the 3D printing industry.

May 2017:  Growing Gears Team receives the 2017 Community Partnership Award from West Career and Technical Academy

In May 2017, the Growing Gears Team received the 2017 Community Partnership Award from West Career and Technical Academy, a top rated CTE school in the state. The award recognized their continued support of the school's engineering program. The Growing Gears Team has collaborated with West Career and Technical Academy on projects relating to urban agriculture, 3D printing, and community STEM events.

May 2017:  Growing Gears and OPCOM Farm provide hydroponics display at the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival

In May 2017, Growing Gears and OPCOM Farm worked with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension to display and demonstrate hydroponics at the Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival held at Cashman Center. The event was designed to engage visitors through fun and accessible science and technology exhibits and was visited by over 8,000 attendees.

November 2016:  Growing Gears Team receives the Conservation Excellence in Agricultural Production award from the Nevada Association of Conservation Districts

In November 2016, the Growing Gears Team received the Conservation Excellence in Agricultural Production award from the Nevada Association of Conservation Districts on behalf of the Zion Garden Park Agricultural Assistance Program. This was the first time the award was given to an urban agriculture program. Amber Bosket, Growing Gears CEO, served as Project Director of the program, which received three awards during its year long tenure.

July 2016:  The National Association of Conservation Districts awards the Zion Garden Park Agricultural Assistance Program

In July 2016, the Zion Garden Park Agricultural Assistance Program was awarded funding by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) in partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The multi-organizational grant program was directed by Growing Gears CEO, Amber Bosket, and funded through the Conservation District of Southern Nevada.

October 2015:  Amber Bosket chairs the first Nevada Green Schools STEM Summit

The first Nevada Green Schools STEM Summit took place at West Career and Technical Academy in October 2015.  This event was a collaborative effort supported by over 50 sponsor and partner organizations.  The Growing Gears Team was a Gold Sponsor of the event. Amber Bosket, Growing Gears CEO, chaired the event. Speakers came from across the county and included representatives from the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Green Building Council's Center for Green Schools, and the Chief Strategy Officer to Governor Brian Sandoval.

January 2015:  Corrie Bosket appointed to the board of the U.S. Green Building Council, Nevada Chapter

In January 2015, Corrie Bosket, Growing Gears Chief of Operations, was appointed to the board of the U.S. Green Building Council's, Nevada Chapter.  Corrie was invited to join the board as a result of his expertise and dedication to the fields of renewable energy, green technologies, urban agriculture, and sustainability.  He brings not only his expertise to the organization, but also his commitment to promote community-wide educational initiatives.

December 2014:  Growing Gears Team receives the "USGBC Nevada LEEDership in Education" award

In December 2014, the Growing Gears Team was awarded the U.S. Green Building Council of Nevada's LEEDership in Education award for the organizational level.  The award was given to recognize "outstanding dedication and sustainable contributions" in education.  The team was also given a Certificate of Achievement from the Nevada Governor's Office of Energy, recognizing that they have achieved excellence in Education as an Organization.

November 2014:  Amber Bosket elected to the board of the Conservation District of Southern Nevada

In November 2014, Growing Gears CEO, Amber Bosket, was elected to the board of supervisors for the Conservation District of Southern Nevada (CDSN) to serve a 4-year term.  The CDSN is the governmental subdivision of the state dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the land's natural resources.
